Lobel Maple
Family:
Aceraceae
Scientific Name:
Acer lobelii Ten
Description:
Tree similar to the curly Maple, provided with opposite, palmate-lobated and five-pointed leaves.
Ecology:
It can be found in beech woods and in mountain forests.
Flowering:
It is an endemic species of Central-Southern Apennine. Abruzzo is the most northern spot where it has been localized.
Interest:
It is located in very few places in the beech woods of Palena and Salle.
Presence In the Park:
The name Lobelius comes from Matthias De l'Obel, Flemish doctor who wrote a famous “Historia plantarum” in 1576.
