Scientific Name: Artemisia umbelliformis Lam. subsp. eriantha (Ten.) Vallčs – Xirau & Braņas
Description: White-tomentous herbaceous species with a strong and aromatic smell. Flower-heads set out in contracted spike with yellowish flowers.
Ecology: It lives on altitudes environments, from 2000 to 3100 meters, on debris and calcareous rocks.
Interest: Endemic species of Apennines and Maritime Alps, regarded as Vulnerable according to the Red List of Italian Plants and protected in Abruzzo in conformity with L.R. n. 45/79.
Presence In the Park: Rare species that grows with localized distribution in high altitudes zones of Majella.
Where you can find it: It can be seen at Botanic Garden in S. Eufemia a Majella.
Curiosities: This species became rare since its bitter-tonic features are useful for the spirits production.
