Majellense Cornflower
 

Family: Compositae
Scientific Name: Centaurea tenoreana Willk
Description: White tomentous plant with lightly impressed segments on the leaves. Inflorescence covered with brown non-ciliate bracts. Its Flower is purple pink.
Ecology: It can be found on dry and stony lawns until 1800 meters.
Flowering: It flowers between July and August.
Interest: Endemic species on Majella, Morrone e M. Pizzi.
Presence In the Park: Species homogeneously distributed all over the Park territory.
Curiositie: It has been chosen as symbol of “Michele Tenore” Botanic Garden in Lama dei Peligni, since it was first described by the famous Neapolitan botanist, who visited in 1831 the Eastern side of Majella, together with a farmer from Lama called Marcone.
