green-dark bluish pseudo-berries called juniper berries. |

climate. It grows on rocky slopes between 700 and 1800 meters. |

The Majella National Park is the Apennine zone
where this species has its largest distribution. |

Presence In the Park: |
It is located in few spots, mainly on Eastern
side of the Majella. |

Curiosities: |
This plant has been used, in the Majella
territory, as decoction for sheep supporting the expulsion of
the so-called "seconda" (second), namely as afterbirth. It has
been also used in Romans burial rites as symbol immortality,
instead of incense. The species is poisonous. |
