Description: |
Herbaceous plant with 3-4 leaves that hug the
caulis and 1or 2 big flowers. The flower is made of brown petals
longer than sepals. The yellow and inflated labellum reminds a
slipper and for this reason it is called "Lady’s Slipper". |

Ecology: |
Eurasiatic species that lives in woods and
subalpine bushes on calcareous grounds. It grows on alpine arc
and in National Parks of Abruzzo, Molise, Lazio and Majella. |

Flowering: |
The Lady’s Slipper is one of four Italian
orchids included in the Appendix II of Washington Agreement,
known as CITES, which regulates the trade of dying species. The
species is regarded as Vulnerable, according to the Red List of
Italian Plants. |

Interest: |
Very unusual species located on the Eastern side
of Majella. |
