CARAMANICO TERME In “Paolo Barrasso” Visitor Centre there is a naturalistic and archeological museum. The naturalistic section, on the lower floor, is dedicated to geology, to the fossils discovered on the Majella Mountain and to the reconstruction of the habitat of the otter and of some environments that can be found in Valle dell’Orfento: beech wood, cliffs, pine wood. On the upper floor there is an archeological section that shows the history of the East side of Mount Majella from prehistory to Middle Ages, to nowadays. Tenore”, aviaries with birds of prey from several rehabilitation centres, the reconstruction of a Neolithic village, and the faunal area of the chamois of Abruzzo. The Centre is the ideal starting-point for excursions towards Rifugio Tarì or towards the cave paintings in Grotta S. Angelo or Grotta del Cavallone (1475m a.s.l.).
